We’re ready for Beardfest!

Here’s a sneak peek at the goodies we’ll be selling on Monday night. We just have a few finishing touches tomorrow, and then we’ll be ready for action.

And while we’re on the subject, check out Time Out’s coverage of the Brooklyn Beardfest and Stache Bash! We’re so excited to see our buddies Kenny and Keith featured!!

Hope to see your faces on Monday!

Bizzy Beez

It’s been busy, busy, busy over here in the bow tie sweatshop.

We’re getting ready for the Brooklyn Beardfest & ‘Stache Bash at the end of the month (which is coming up freakishly fast!), and have a few more events that we’re really excited about coming up in the next few months (stay tuned!).

But today we took a break from bow ties, and decided to make some mustache pillows for the ‘Stache Bash.

I introduce you to Mr. Selleck and Mr. Hogan…

Come & get ‘em Monday, January 31, 2011!
Hope to see you there!

I kind of love this illustration from Esquire on how to tie a bow tie.
I still don’t know any boy who has been able to figure it out based on this, but it’s cute nonetheless. (Notice how disgruntled he is when he doesn’t have it tied compared to step 6. Further proof: bow ties make people happy.) I was thinking about doing my own illustration to send out with every bow tie we sell.
First I suppose I have to finish the new ties, eh?

Clark & Bettie will be at the Brooklyn Beardfest & Stache Bash on January 31st at the Bell House in Gowanus, sharing a table with our jewelry makin’ pals at Hot & Salty. The fun starts at 8pm!
If you know anything about us, you know we lovvvvvvve beards, so we couldn’t be happier to be a part of this event.
Come get your fix of weirdo-beardo-inspired bow ties (and the unveiling of our new mustachio tie!), as well as some beardy pillows we’re making just for this. Who doesn’t like curling up with a nice, fluffy beard? I know I do.

A couple months ago, I was walking around the neighborhood with some friends after having brunch, and they told me about this little store they thought I’d love.
They were right.
As soon as we walked through the doors of Brooklyn General, I was smitten. The displays up front are total eye-candy for fabric and knitting nerds alike, and though I don’t knit at all, it’s stores like this that kinda make me wish I did.
One side of the store is just a wall of beautiful yarn and notions; the other side houses the bolts of cutie pie patterned fabrics. In fact, I found 2 of my current favourite prints here that day (coming soon to an etsy shop near you)!
This place just feels warm and inviting, and it is so hard not to be inspired as you scan the colourful shelves. It’s definitely going to be my go-to place for cool bow tie prints when I’m not designing my own. And it’s right down the street. Bonus!
